2011: Social media trends for Next year

What are the big trends for social media in 2011? David Armano, senior vice president at Edelman Digital, presents six trends to watch out for
First, we will start to see companies integrating social media into all facets of business from global marketing to crisis management and beyond.
He says we will also see heightened competition between tablets and mobiles, all vying for eyeballs in the social media space. That means more competition, variety, power, and affordability in devices which in turn will mean more social networking.
The third thing to expect next year, he says, is Facebook moving into location based networking, trying to win back the territory it has lost to Foursquare.
Also, expect to see more social media schizophrenia as people tweet, Facebook, G-mail, chat, Skype, BBM, SMS, and Tumble their way across the social web. Armano says we will also see Google using another strategy to compete with Facebook, this time focusing on what Google does best, indexing any and all social data they can get their hands on.
And finally, we will see websites increasingly seeking to serve as “digital hubs” that integrate social activity from many platforms like Twitter and Facebook. via: Gooptech
